If you are planning your first eight-thousandth, then Manaslu is the most preferable option. We fly by helicopter to the village at the foot of the mountain, where we enjoy day hikes to acclimatize before going up to the base camp to start climbing. We will climb the northeast wall using four camps along the way. The ascent will take place on snowy slopes at a moderate angle, and only on the way to the fourth camp we will use fixed ropes to overcome a number of short convex ice formations to get to the flat saddle and camp. Summit Day is the cherry on the cake for any climber – we will climb the snowy slope to the plateau, overcome a steep snow ridge, and finally find ourselves on a peak soaring above the clouds with grandiose views around!

We will go by helicopter to the village of Samagaun near Manaslu at an altitude of 3530 meters, where the locals have been preserving the traditional way of life for centuries, breeding yaks and farming. Above the village there is a famous monastery, in which lamas (monks) are ordained only by inheritance, which means that only after the death of the father, the eldest son has the right to inherit his status. We will spend several days in this place, making acclimatization trips. Nights in the lodge.

The route to the first camp will take you along grassy slopes, stone slabs and moraines, and then along a cracked glacier with small ice steps to the camp at an altitude of 5500 m. Even in peak season, there may be snow around the base camp and above. The views of the surrounding peaks will inspire us all along the way, moreover, we will be lucky enough to admire the Manaslu peak almost the entire route up to the fourth camp. The greatest technical difficulty is the section of the way to the second camp at an altitude of 6250 meters, you will have to move along ropes fixed on a steep slope. There are also several vertical ice steps. Next, a relatively simple route to the third camp — acclimatized climbers can complete this stage in about 3-4 hours.
From the third camp, we will have a rather strenuous climb to the fourth camp at an altitude of 7450 meters, where we will have a well-deserved rest and the necessary rehydration, which will increase our chances of success.
Day 25-36. Climbing to the top and descending to the base camp. The ascent day will start well before dawn, and the ascent will take about 6-7 hours. The ascent is far from technical at its beginning — we will overcome several basins connected by short bridges.
