6 DAYS MACHAME ROUTE (Mount Kilimanjaro Summit 2020)

  • The Machame route is one of the most beautiful and most popular trekking tours on Kilimanjaro. It is suitable for more exploratory hikers who wish for an added physically demanding climb than other routes. It presents stunning views of Mount Meru, Shira Ridge, and Kibo summit as you make your move through lush rainforest, moorland, and alpine desert.

Day 1 Airport Pick-Up - Drop Off At Hotel

You will be picked up by the staff of Jerry Tanzania Tours from Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and driven to your hotel in Moshi. In the evening your guides will meet you at the hotel to brief you on your upcoming trek and do an equipment check to make sure you have all the necessary mountain gear. Gear which is missing can be rented on this day.

    Accommodation: Panama Garden Resort

Journey time and Distance: 1 hour, 40 km from Kilimanjaro International Airport to Moshi.

Day 2 From Machame Gate To Machame Camp

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel in Moshi and driven to the Machame Gate, about an hour’s drive away. While your guide is busy with the Registration forms, you can watch the mountain team prepare for the climb and once this is all done, your Kilimanjaro adventure will begin. In no time you will be deep within the magnificent mountain rainforest with ancient trees, primeval ferns, liana, lichen, and moss that carpets the ground and drapes from the trees. You will hear and with a little luck, even spot the beautiful black and white colobus monkeys in the treetops. After 5 to 6 hours, you will reach today’s destination – the Machame Camp which is situated just above the tree line at 2,835 meters. Here, at the base of Mt Kilimanjaro, you will have your first dinner followed by an overnight stay in tents.
